Workshop manual: a carbon-fibre shaft up to about September 1998 production, steel after that (a faulty carbon shaft may be replaced by a steel one); which one this car carries now is not read. CV joints at the gearbox and final-drive flanges (max. 8 deg), a universal joint at the centre bearing (carbon shaft max. 25 deg, steel 15 deg). Flange bolts self-locking, renew, 55 Nm; new self-adhesive gaskets on both flanges; centre bearing bolts 23 Nm with shims (ETKA 2 to 8 mm) chosen so the gaps either side are equal. Balance marks on the flanges must line up. ETKA lists eight shaft numbers (4D0 521 101 ...); the fitted one is not determined.
